If you would like to get an e-version of our book and also support independent bookstores you can now get the book via Kobo. You can create an account from this link and become a customer of The Bookstore Plus an independent bookstore in Lake Placid, NY. The Kobo app is  great and works on all devices except of course the proprietary Kindle.

You can go directly to the Kobo edition here: http://store.kobobooks.com/en-US/ebook/the-backcountry-classroom?utm_medium=web&utm_source=aba2015907

The electronic edition of The Backcountry Classroom is now available. Visit our store to download it along with some great Paul Petzoldt videos. We've worked hard to keep it reasonably priced. We look forward to your feedback.

We just received the files for the e-edition of the book and are putting them through their paces on a variety of electronic readers to make sure everything works and is the way it is supposed to be. With a little luck we will have it ready for sale within a month.

Stay tuned!

Who Woulda Thunk It?

We reached our goal with our first backer. Well known wilderness medical expert William Forgey's donation while not surprising is certainly very generous. This has allowed us to focus on our stretch goal of funding the start of the multimedia version of The Backcountry Classroom.

The stretch goal is to create what will be an e-book/ app that will include interactive video, animation, interactive tables and more. We want to maximize the use of technology in creating a state of the art tool for teaching and learning about wilderness leadership. We are budgeting $1000 a minute for videography. Animation rates start at $1500 per minute and can be well over $15,000 per minute. Although we’ll be budgeting the lower range you get the idea. This stuff is expensive!

We hope to use our stretch funding to make at least one sample chapter of this multimedia learning tool. We hope you'll consider being part of our project?
